Two NEW CEFA Schools

Henderson Construction Ltd is currently building two new cefa schools, Vancouver and Surrey. Quoted from the cefa website: “Our new cefa™ Vancouver school is underway and will be situated on Commercial Drive between 13th and 14th Avenue. We are opening in January 2010, and will be announcing a definite date in the upcoming months. The day has finally arrived, and our most recent residential home renovation project at West 22nd Street in North Vancouver, BC is in the finishing touches stage! Listed at $999,000 this awesome family home will have its first open house this coming Sunday. Still waiting on pictures of the final project, but for now here is one of the kitchen almost complete. Will post the complete listing as soon as it is active.

Beautiful Bathrooms

Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen more use of the miniature tile as both back splashes and in bathrooms. For the bathrooms at our latest renovation project at West 22nd Street in North Vancouver, we opted for the miniature accent tile for a cheerful punch of colour offering a pleasant constrast to the crisp white tile which keeps the room bright and fresh. When renovating or building a new bathroom, it is easy to get carried away with all the gorgeous tile colours and designs now available. It is important to remember that tile is not like paint, or even wallpaper…it is not easy to change and therefore it is wise to keep the majority of the tile neutral and use a more fun, vibrant accent that you won’t get tired of and which a prospective buyer (should you choose to sell) won’t be put off by. Tiling is an art and not a cheap one. Accents can be easily changed but if you pick the right one: timeless, sophisticated and a great colour that makes you smile on a daily basis, you cant go wrong. Our bathrooms are modern and classy but at the same time fresh and fun! A winning combination for a home that will be hitting the marketing over the next few weeks! My favourite room of the house…and rather a specialty of ours…The Kitchen! At Henderson Construction Ltd, we pride ourselves on creating stunning kitchens that can often accommodate rather large gatherings of families and friends! This beautiful kitchen at West 22nd Street in North Vancouver is no exception, with the rich espresso cabinets, bright open feel, exposed beam and a large island perfect for year round entertaining…Check back soon for more pictures!

The West 22nd house is taking shape…

It’s hard to believe it has been only a few short months since Henderson Construction Ltd started their new side project of transforming a modest 3 bedroom home on West 22nd Street in North Vancouver, BC. The crew set to work immediately on the outside before the home had even changed hands, and while the weather was good, the outside was transformed from a dated mint green bungalow to a stunning, modern craftsman home which is warm and welcoming and oozing style and elegance. First the huge deck was put on the back and then another off the front which instantly transformed its curb appeal. The house was completely painted in what appears to be Henderson’s signature colours, and new lawn and landscaping were done throughout the front and back yards. New concrete paving was poured to form an elegant path leading up to the front on the home. The most dynamic of the changes to date has been the transformation of the old garage which is now a distant memory, and a new larger concrete driveway in place of the original narrow drive. It dramatically changes the look of the home. Also all the windows have been replaced or changed to sliding doors off the back deck. Here are the before and after shots of the outside:

The new driveway has made room for extra parking. The simple but striking landscaping in the front is easy to maintain but looks crisp and stylish.

Now onto the inside….just in time for the rain…The restructuring of walls is complete with new drywall in place, for example, the old doorway from the kitchen into the laundry room and out to the back deck is now sealed up because the laundry room is now a master ensuite and closet to the master bedroom. Now there are beautiful sliding doors from the kitchen out to the back deck plus the addition of a new window on the side. Quite a change from that pokey kitchen with the tiny window!

Like you could ever forget it!

So much brighter in here!

Notice that from where this picture was taken there used to be a wall, now the whole kitchen is open to the living area and the fireplace has been resurfaced with an awesome rock and trimmed with the same wood as the beam. It is simply stunning. Check out the fireplace which is not quite finished:
